Job description

Assists in the daily operations of the Mellon Park Tennis Facility, including but not limited to scheduling court reservations for patrons, performing cash transactions, and cleaning the facility.

Department: Parks and Recreation

Salary: $15.45 per hour

Union: None, this is a non-union position.

Union Bid Form: None required.

Civil Service Classification: Exempt

General Application Requirements:

You must submit or show proof of all of the following at the time of filing your application (unless otherwise indicated below) or your application will be disqualified. Disqualifications based on any of these General Application Requirements are not subject to a Civil Service appeal.

  • Applicants must submit a complete application including education, work experience, a resume (if applicable), and completed supplemental questions.
  • Pennsylvania Act 153 and Act 126 (Mandated Reporter Certificate) Clearances prior to appointment.
  • Applicants must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid Certificates within six (6) months of date of hire and maintain throughout employment.
  • Applicants must be City of Pittsburgh residents at the time of application and remain a resident throughout employment.

NOTE: The City of Pittsburgh, as a matter of policy, conducts pre-employment and promotional background investigations on all candidates being considered for positions. The background investigation includes but is not limited to criminal background, driver's license, and City of Pittsburgh real estate tax payments. Candidates may be disqualified from consideration for employment based on the results of their background investigation (as it relates to the job for which the applicant is being considered).

Responsibilities:

  • Answers telephone calls and inquiries about court availability and schedules court reservations.
  • Keeps accurate records of daily court rentals.
  • Maintains the facility conditions by changing water coolers, restocking cups, and emptying trash bins.
  • Keeps all areas inside and outside of the facility clean by vacuuming the tennis courts with courtsweeper, cleaning the restrooms, changing floor mats, shoveling snow, and raking leaves.
  • Resolves patron complaints and concerns regarding facility conditions.
  • Performs activities and functions of related departmental personnel as assigned or required.
  • Performs such other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.
