Job summary

The City of Concord is seeking a Parks and Facilities Attendant to assist with indoor and outdoor park facility checks and maintenance. You will patrol shelters, community rooms, playgrounds, trails and boardwalks, ensuring safety and cleanliness and providing friendly service to park patrons.

Responsibilities include assisting with reservations, performing visual safety inspections, restocking supplies, enforcing park rules, opening/closing facilities, and coordinating with the Facility Manager

  • Assists with park facility reservations during and after events.
  • Performs visual safety inspections of interior/exterior facilities, playgrounds, trails, bridges, boardwalks.
  • Provides superior customer service to park patrons.
  • Cleans buildings and restrooms; performs litter control and janitorial duties.
  • Inspects parks and facilities for safety and completes checklists.
  • Enforces park rules; reports hazards.
  • Opens and closes parks and shelters per schedule.
  • Coordinates needs with Facility Manager & Coordinator.
  • Reports daily activities to supervisor.
  • Identifies trends in park usage to assist maintenance.
  • Prepares grounds for events and assists in setting up.
  • Manages shelter reservations and field/court rentals.
  • Maintains communication with supervisor about hazards.
  • Enters work orders into Building & Grounds system.

Job description

The purpose of this position is to assist with indoor and outdoor facility checks and ensure park facilities are being maintained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Checks Park facilities during higher volume times (nights and weekends) for appropriate use by citizens. This staff will go between parks shelters and community rooms frequently.
  • Assists Facility Coordinator with park facility reservations during and after event times.
  • Assists Facility Manager and Coordinator with maintenance needs by performing visual safety inspections of interior and exterior of all facilities, playgrounds, parks, trails, bridges and boardwalks.
  • Provides superior customer service while interacting with park patrons.
  • Perform litter control outdoors within parks and trails and restock trash receptacles. Cleans buildings and restrooms along with other janitorial duties.
  • Inspects parks and facilities for safety and completes checklists along parks and greenways.
  • Enforces Park rules while visiting amenities and contact park patrol when necessary.
  • Opens and/or closes parks, shelters, or community rooms according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Meets with Facility Manager & Facility Coordinator to review upcoming needs, reservations, and events.
  • Reports daily activities/notes to Supervisor.
  • Identifies trends in park usage to assist with maintenance/upkeep for citizen use.
  • Prepares grounds for events and assists in setting up for internal events and programs.
  • Assists with managing shelter reservations and/or field or court rentals.
  • Maintains communication with supervisor when needed including reporting hazards or unsafe conditions immediately when discovered.
  • Enters work orders into Building & Grounds request system or notify Supervisor of maintenance needs.

Licensing and Certifications:
  • Valid NC Driver’s License
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) & First Aid Certification
