Examples of Work Performed

• Assist in the coordination of recreation programs including adult and youth sports, special events, and other recreational activities.
• Responsible for the preparation, set-up, and clean-up of baseball, softball, and soccer fields.
• Perform a variety of general administrative duties including answering telephones, assisting customers, collecting fees, and maintaining attendance records.
• Promote the safety of all program participants.
• Assist with the set-up and take-down of tables, chairs, and sports equipment for all facility activities and special events.
• Oversee the regular operations of a community center, fields, and gymnasium facilities.
• Respond to patrons' needs for assistance and information in person and over the phone.
• Operate standard office equipment including personal computers.
• Officiate or keep score for sports activities.
• Perform basic custodial duties.
• Set up and take down building furnishings and arrangements.
• Completion of work assignments may require operation of a vehicle.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements of Work

• Ability to lead and work effectively with program participants.
• Ability to organize and lead recreation activities.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to cross communication barriers.
• Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, participants, and the public.
• Maintain facilities and equipment in a clean, safe, and secure manner.
• Proficiency with personal computers and software.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment or supplies up to 25 pounds.
• Availability to work weekends and evenings as needed.
• May require ability to acquire and maintain Child First Aid and CPR Certification.
• May require ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and tolerate airborne nuisances.
• May require a valid Kansas Driver's License.
• Employment contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and criminal record check.
