Examples of Work Performed
- Assist in the coordination of recreation programs including adult and youth sports, special events, and other recreational activities.
- Responsible for the preparation, set-up, and clean-up of baseball, softball, and soccer fields.
- Perform a variety of general administrative duties including answering telephones, assisting customers, collecting fees, and maintaining attendance records.
- Promote the safety of all program participants.
- Assist with the set-up and take-down of tables, chairs, and sports equipment for all facility activities and special events.
- Oversee the regular operations of a community center, fields, and gymnasium facilities.
- Respond to patrons' needs for assistance and information in person and over the phone.
- Operate standard office equipment including personal computers.
- Officiate or keep score for sports activities.
- Perform basic custodial duties.
- Set up and take down building furnishings and arrangements.
- Completion of work assignments may require operation of a vehicle.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements of Work
- Ability to lead and work effectively with program participants.
- Ability to organize and lead recreation activities.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to cross communication barriers.
- Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, participants, and the public.
- Maintain facilities and equipment in a clean, safe, and secure manner.
- Proficiency with personal computers and software.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment or supplies up to 25 pounds.
- Availability to work weekends and evenings as needed.
- May require ability to acquire and maintain Child First Aid and CPR Certification.
- May require ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and tolerate airborne nuisances.
- May require a valid Kansas Driver's License.
