City of Memphis is seeking a Recreation Specialist to lead class instruction and a range of recreational activities across city facilities. You will coordinate rental functions, provide clerical and custodial support, and supervise staff and participants.
When management is away, you will direct facility operations and ensure safety and adherence to guidelines. Applicants must hold a High School diploma or GED, have recreation education experience, and a valid driver’s license.
Salary Range:$42,800.42 - $63,772.28

Transports participants to recreational activities by driving to various locations throughout the City .

Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.
Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with management, staff members, and the general public. Requires the ability to lift and carry objects including recreation equipment (up to approximately 40 lbs.). Requires the ability to operate general office equipment including telephone, computer, printer, and copier. Requires the ability to operate an automobile to travel to various locations throughout the City.
Work performed primarily in a community center environment except during outdoor activities. Evening and weekend shifts are required. Travel to various locations throughout the City may be required.
High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED); or any combination of experience or training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Experience in recreation education and/or training is required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver license as a condition of continued employment. Must attain ‘F’ Endorsement on Driver’s License within 90 days from start of assignment, depending on assignment.
