The City of Beaumont California seeks a seasoned recreation professional to plan, coordinate, and supervise programs and facilities for seniors, youth, sports, arts, and events. Under general direction, plans, organizes, coordinates, and provides direction and oversight for one or more recreation programs and/or facilities; supervises programs that may include senior center, youth, and adult sports, leisure and arts programs, special interest classes, and community events; to coordinate operations of recreation and sports facilities, including senior center, and recreation centers; to provide administrative support and program assistance to the Recreation Manager and Director of Community Services; and performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Principles and practices of development and implementation of a variety of recreation programs.
Recreational and social needs and interests of the community.
Equipment, rules and field preparation for team sports.
Methods and techniques used in marketing and promotion.
Procedures and techniques of program budgeting.

Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Recreation, Public Administration, Business Administration, Sociology, or a closely related field is preferred.
A minimum of four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in coordinating recreation and/or community services programs. An equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Employees in this class generally work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing City-wide policies and procedures.
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting including use of standard office equipment, including a computer; and to operate a motor vehicle to visit various City development and meeting sites. Vision is required to read printed materials and a computer screen. Hearing and speech is required to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Touch is required in order to handle documents, and use a computer. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 20 pounds.
