Job summary

The Park District of Oak Park is seeking a Part-Time Building Attendant for the CRC in Oak Park, IL. This role supports daily facility operations, provides front desk service, and helps with room setups, safety, and customer service for patrons of all ages.

Responsibilities include enforcing rules, performing inspections, assisting with events, and ensuring cleanliness. Must maintain CPR/First Aid/AED certs within 1 month and be 18+. PTO and employee discounts are offered for part-time staff.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certification within 1 month of employment; certification kept current.
• Supervisor experience preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Park District software systems.
• Excellent customer service and ability to interact with participants of all ages.
• Ability to learn and follow Park District policies and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Enforce rules, regulations, and facility policies at the assigned site.
• Conduct facility walk-throughs to maintain safety and security.
• Assist with room set-ups and breakdowns; ensure rooms are clean and ready.
• Provide exceptional customer service and address patron concerns promptly.
• Perform front desk and customer service duties.
• Operate and troubleshoot equipment; report issues as needed.
• Complete inspections of facilities and equipment.
• Open and/or close the building per procedures; ensure readiness.
• Perform janitorial tasks and maintain cleanliness of bathrooms and floors.
• Support fitness floor, gym floor, or play zone staff as needed.
• Report injuries or incidents to supervisor or Risk Management.
• Build rapport with patrons and know their needs.
• Monitor inventory of first aid and gym supplies; requisition as needed.
• Attend events, staff meetings, and training; assist with snow removal when required.
• Maintain clear communication with patrons about rules and safety.
