Job summary

Pyramid Global Hospitality's South Seas on Captiva Island seeks a Recreation Attendant to manage pool and beach operations at the Bayview Pool Complex.

You will set up seating, assist guests, manage towel and cabana services, and ensure safety and courtesy in a fast-paced resort environment. 40 hours per week, weekend/holiday shifts, pay is $20.00 per hour plus tips.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Hotel/resort experience preferred.
  • Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up pool seating and umbrellas.
  • Removing trash and towels; stocking fresh towels.
  • Directing guests and enforcing safety around water slides.
  • Providing courteous guest service and handling inquiries.
  • Assisting cabana rentals and maintaining a clean, safe pool area.
  • Beach operations: delivering chairs, umbrellas, towels; assisting guest check-in.

RATE OF PAY

RATE OF PAY: $20.00 plus the opportunity to make tips

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Recreation Attendant will be tasked with working within the Bayview Pool Complex at the north end of South Seas.

Pool Operations
  • Setting up pool seating and umbrellas
  • Removing trash and other items from the pool area including picking up towels, and stocking and handing out fresh towels
  • Directing people in a courteous manner and having them follow your direction when working the water slides, having safety always on the mind
  • Customer service skills are important in this role as you will be dealing with guests’ needs and/or inquiries
  • Guests will have the option to rent cabanas which the pool attendants are responsible for attending, providing a clean, safe environment for the guests' pool day
Beach Operations
  • Offering chairs, umbrellas, and towels to our guests
  • Greet and check‑in guests in a pleasant and professional manner, escort them to their preferred area, and provide them with clean towels
  • Maintaining and upkeep the cleanliness of the beach, enforcing safety rules, and regularly checking that equipment is functioning properly
  • Answering guest questions, providing solutions to their problems, and ensuring they are completely satisfied with your services
  • Taking down and storing beach equipment and keeping a safe environment while following company policies at all times
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Monitors the day‑to‑day operations of the Resort Pool Complex and beach operations/services
  • Oversees the cabana rental programs
  • Manages all guest issues as they pertain to the pool areas; equipment or pool malfunctions are reported into respective departments to ensure timely repairs
  • Comfortable being tasked to work on the waterslides
  • Reports any deficiencies to superiors
  • Monitors inventory of cabana supplies (purchasing and receiving dept.) and place orders accordingly to avoid supplies running out
  • Assists with monitoring inventory of pool towels, pool lounge chairs and pool umbrellas
  • Assists with monitoring inventory of beach towels, beach lounge chairs and beach umbrellas
  • Keeps all areas neat, clean and in good repair at all times including work vehicles
  • Enforces safety and operating procedures and provides for maintenance needs in compliance with health and safety standards
  • Provides great public relations and is knowledgeable of resort happenings; all to be of better service to our guests and owners
  • Directly involved with hurricane preparedness and other extreme weather conditions monitored daily
  • Assists in the development, recommendation and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the resort
  • Attends company meetings whenever necessary
  • Assists and advises where needed with all recreational needs throughout the department that includes the pool, beach, daily activities, special events and group events
What are we looking for?
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Background with working at a hotel/resort or related is preferred
  • Required: Must have a valid driver’s license, motor vehicle background check will be completed

  • Teamwork is essential and critical in this role
WORKING CONDITIONS - PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Position requires you to be able to stand, walk, bend and stoop for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment
  • Must be able to work in different types of weather sometimes extreme, including high temperatures and humidity
HOURS REQUIRED

40 hours per week, flexible schedule, will be required to work weekends and/or holidays
