The U.S. Air Force is seeking a Fitness Coordinator for Sam's Fitness Center. This full-time position involves assessing fitness needs, conducting training sessions, and coordinating fitness programs for a diverse group of clients. Candidates should have a degree in exercise science, relevant certifications, and a passion for promoting fitness within the military community.
Incumbent assesses training needs for groups and individuals eligible to patronize the Joint Base Charleston- Weapons Station Fitness Center. Performs Body composition Analyses, demonstrates proper form and techniques for using fitness equipment, to include; free weights, selectorized strength equipment and cardiovascular equipment. Monitors exercise equipment testing for individuals as well as small and large groups. Schedules various classes including; group exercise or small and large group training sessions to meet the needs of patrons. Contacts clients to set up goal setting meetings., e.g. for weight loss, improving strength and flexibility; initial physical assessment, and personal training sessions. Ensures completion of pre-exercise program forms, such as the PAR-Q or related health/physical questionnaires. Assists in off-site training on the installation with various commands. Plans, coordinates, and executes special events, such as: wight lifting competitions, endurance/fitness challenges, and road races as required. Events will be held at various times of day (early, morning, mid-day, late afternoon) and possibly weekends. Reports demographic numbers to the Fitness and Aquatics Manager and assists with evaluating the strength of current programming and developing marketing strategies to advertise programs to the installation population. Serves as point of contact for group exercise instructors that may have questions, comments, or concerns about the facility, equipment, or addressing patron concerns. Performs maintenance and/or minor repairs to fitness equipment. As a shift supervisor, ensures opening/closing front desk staff complete mandatory duties/tasks completely and correctly before departing. Tasks include, but are not limited to, point of sale paperwork is completely corrected, facility is clean and ready for opening, securing building 708, Sam's Fitness Center and building 725, Group Fitness Room, inspecting facilities for any all safety hazards and reporting any findings to supervisor and ensuring all facility or patron discrepancies have been reported to the Fitness and Aquatics Manager and/or the Fitness, Sports and Aquatics Director. Ensures completion of all training requirements for opening/closing shifts. Perform other duties as assigned.
