Job summary

HealthFitness is seeking an enthusiastic Recreation Assistant for our Walton Family Whole Health & Fitness site in Bentonville, AR. This on-call position supports planning, promoting, and running recreation events to engage members and foster community connections.

You will help with tournaments, leagues, and teambuilding activities, assist the recreation desk, and maintain equipment. Prior First Aid/CPR, customer service strengths, and basic MS Office skills are desired.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred prior to start.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in promotion and running of recreation events and leagues.
• Support enrollment, purchases, reservations, and equipment checkout at the recreation desk.
• Assist with racquet restringing, court/equipment maintenance, and setup/breakdown.
• Teach sports lessons to children and adults as needed.
• Ensure safety guidelines are followed and encourage good sportsmanship.

In this role, you'll help plan, promote, and support a variety of engaging recreation programs and events that enhance the member experience and foster community connection.This is an on-call/substitute position, providing coverage when regular staff are unavailable, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a flexible schedule while staying active in a dynamic recreation environment. If you're energetic, service-oriented, and passionate about creating fun and welcoming experiences for others, we'd love to hear from you!Responsible for assisting with organizing recreation activities and sporting events to both children and adults, helping with various tournaments, recreation, and teambuilding events, and assisting customers at the recreation desk. Ensures students/players adhere to safety guidelines and demonstrates good sportsmanship May also provide private lessons.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESAssist in the promotion/running of recreation events including tournaments, mixers, leagues, and play events. May teach individual/group sports lessons to children and/or adults of varying abilities while providing a fun, engaging playing environment that addresses the skill level of the students.Assist members/guests at the recreation desk with enrollment, purchases, reservations, and/or equipment checkout using our software management system.Racquet restringing, regripping, minor court/equipment maintenance, preparation/breakdown of recreation equipment for events.Other duties as needed/assignedMinimum RequirementsHigh School diploma/GED.Adult and pediatric First Aid and CPR/AED certification from American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute required prior to start date.Professional appearance and attitude.Ability to start/complete events/activities in a timely manner.Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Working knowledge of the member management system, databases, and tools.Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands, meet deadlines, and collaborate with all business units.Ability to work independently and as a team running events.The compensation range for this role is $15.00 - $17.50/hour. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
