Job description

Duties

1. Serves as lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation aquatics Program Manager or Pool Supervisor.
2. Performs lifeguarding duties and employs safety rules for the protection of pool guests.
3. Responsible for lifeguarding guests at the assigned aquatics facility.
4. Assists with scheduling staff and programs, tracking inventory, and ordering supplies.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one-year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Satisfactorily complete all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 and complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
• Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
• In case of exposure to infectious disease, the incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
• Required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
• Availability to work irregular hours, including weekends, weekdays, holidays, and night shifts.
• The incumbent must be able to lift/carry 50+ pounds.
• A physical exam is required.

Qualifications

Possesses and maintains, or is in the process of obtaining, the following certifications:

• Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalents such as Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS)
• American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional"
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED)
• First Aid
• Customer Service

Highly Preferred:

• Possesses American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or nationally recognized equivalents (Star Guard or Ellis Lifeguard Instructor Certification) OR
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or nationally recognized equivalents (Star Guard or Ellis Water Safety Instructor Certification).
