Clarification from the agency

U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.

Duties

  • Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions. Assists with scheduling of employees, the operation of the pool, and performs water tests.
  • Assist in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required. Assist with the operation of the pool, oversees the work of assigned lifeguards and monitors compliance with facility policies.
  • Under the direction of the pool supervisor, employ safety rules for the protection of the guest. Responsible for life guarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatic facility. Issues towels and checks identification as required.
  • Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to tC21-21. Maintains daily logs and records as required.
  • Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Ensures maintaining the pool and area is clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to work in continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Chapter 2 to include a medical examination and Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for access to federally controlled facilities.
  • Incumbent must have a current health assessment which documents good physical health, and free from communicable disease IAW current Army Policy.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to work irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements. Work hours may involve weekends, weekdays, holidays, and night duty.
  • Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period in case of exposure to infectious disease.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Possesses And Maintains The Following Certifications

  • Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e., Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS).
  • American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional.
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED).
