Job summary

Outdoor Creation located on Peterson Space Force Base seeks qualified candidates for outdoor recreation roles within the United States Space Force. This position requires passing a pre-employment drug test, a physical, and immunizations.

You must possess the ability to lift 40 pounds and may be scheduled for shift work including evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Open to all applicants with eligibility demonstrating by 09/14/2026.

Qualifications

  • First Aid, CPR, and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification or higher is required.
  • Must have a valid driver''s license and must be able to obtain a Government Driver''s License.
  • One or more of the following certifications: AMGA SPI, AMGA Climbing Wall Instructor, Mountain Bike Instructor, ACA Swift Water Rescue Technician Level 4, ACA Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor, ACA White Water Kayaking Level 4 Instructor, AIARE Level I, AIARE Level 2, AIARE PRO I.
  • Royal Gorge Guide, River Guide Instructor, White Water River Guide (state licenses accepted) or other similar outdoor recreation certifications may be recognized.

Job description

About the position:

This position will be assigned to Outdoor Creation located on Peterson Space Force Base.


Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug test. Must be able to lift items weighing 40 pounds or more. This position may require shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.


Qualifying Experience:

Practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules, and procedures is required. First Aid, CPR, and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification or higher is required. Must have a valid driver's license and must be able to obtain a Government Driver's License. Must have one or more of the following certifications;



  • American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA) Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) trained

  • AMGA Climbing Wall Instructor

  • Mountain Bike Instructor

  • American Canoe Association (ACA) Swift Water Rescue Technician Level 4

  • ACA Stand Up Paddleboard instructor

  • ACA White Water Kayaking Level 4 Instructor

  • American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) Level I

  • AIARE Level 2

  • AIARE PRO I

  • Royal Gorge Guide

  • River Guide Instructor

  • White Water River Guide (multiple state licenses accepted)

  • other similar outdoor recreation certifications may be recognized


Must be able to satisfactorily complete and pass a pre-employment physical and provide proof of immunizations. Must be able to obtain and present a current and satisfactory driver's record. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier I National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background check, a State Criminal History Repository Check(s), and Installation Records Check (IRC). Position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening and randomized drug testing. Must be able to lift items weighing 40 pounds or more above head.
