Details
- Part Time (Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal Status), non-exempt
- $15.50 - $17.00per hour (depending on qualifications)
- Reports to Recreation Supervisor- Arts and Events
- Located at Eden Prairie City Center, Staring Lake Park and various outdoor locations in Eden Prairie.
- The position runs June 2025 - August 2025. Shifts vary, including weekdays, weekends and evenings. Hours are approximately 20 hours/week. Priority given to candidates who are available for all or most of the following special events:
- Festival of Jazz on the Prairie- June 8 th
- Kidstock Concert Series- Tuesday mornings
- Party for Pride- June 21 st
- Hometown Celebration- July 3-4 th
- Staring at Starring Concert Series- various Thursdays, Fridays and Sunday evenings.
- Picnic on the Farm- July 16 th
- PeopleFest! Party - July 27 th
- Arts in the Park- August 16 th
- Movies in the Park- Fridays in August
Responsibilities
The Recreation Assistant - Events provides assistance to the Recreation Supervisor – Arts & Events and the Recreation Specialist – Arts & Events in planning, promoting, implementing, and evaluating events for the City. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
- Assists with the planning and implementation of community-wide events such as Arts in the Park, the 4 th of July Hometown Celebration and PeopleFest!, among others.
- Attend meetings and perform various administrative duties required for program and event planning and implementation. Coordinate event and program specific tasks including managing supplies and other event logistics.
- Provide on-site coordination assistance and troubleshooting for event logistics including set-up and tear-down.
- Utilize computer software programs such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, Canva, mapping or GSI software, and others as needed.
- Assist and support the implementation of administrative processes, policies, and procedures to ensure high quality events, programs and services.
- Act as a positive role model to staff, volunteers, and participants.
While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and 1 year of study in a post-secondary curriculum with course work in event planning, parks and recreation, or related field required; CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Prior events experience can substitute for post-secondary requirements.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in event planning, performing arts events, customer service/administrative support, working with outside vendors, data entry, word processing, and communications preferred.
- Must be able to frequently lift/carry/pull up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lift/carry/pull 50–75 lbs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
