Recreation Assistant Community Rec at NAVWAR
Join us for the Recreation Assistant Community Rec role at NAVWAR. This position supports the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Community Recreation program, involving activities such as special events, community outings, trips, rentals, and recreational services including bowling, library, movies, and outdoor recreation.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service and support for community recreation programs, including checking patron eligibility, providing information, managing facilities, and restocking supplies.
- Handle sales transactions, including tickets, retail items, and program fees using POS systems, and maintain accurate daily sales records.
- Assist with event registration, equipment check-in/out, inventory control, and maintenance reporting.
- Support the planning and execution of workshops, trips, and community events, including promotion and outreach efforts.
- Maintain records, compile reports, and perform research related to recreation activities.
- Assist with staff recruitment, training, scheduling, and program administration.
- Promote MWR facilities and resources, including online library services, and develop partnerships with external organizations.
- Perform community outreach and support event setup and breakdown.
- Follow sanitation and safety policies, and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Valid state driver's license within 90 days of employment for off-base transportation.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical activities related to recreation support.
- Flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Pass E-Verify employment verification and participate in direct deposit.
Qualifications
- Experience in customer service and recreational activities.
- Ability to organize events, work independently, and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of leisure and recreation principles, Navy MWR mission, and computer skills.
Additional Information
This is a part-time, entry-level position with salary dependent on experience and education. A one-year probationary period may apply. Spouse preference may be available for eligible military spouses. Position may require travel and adherence to drug-free workplace policies.
