Position Overview for Recreation Assistant:
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Recreation Assistant to support the Director of Recreation in designing, coordinating, and implementing a variety of recreational and educational programs for our residents. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for seniors through engaging activities and a strong commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities as a Recreation Assistant:

  • Program Implementation: Assist in the planning and execution of individual and group activities based on residents’ interests and needs.

  • Resident Assessment: Complete the activity component of the resident assessment within 14 days of admission and update the program quarterly.

  • Data Gathering: Document required assessments and resident interactions, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

  • Interdisciplinary Team Participation: Actively participate in resident care conferences and collaborate with other team members to address residents’ activity-related concerns.

  • Activity Coordination: Organize and conduct a range of indoor and outdoor activities, including evening and weekend events, to promote resident engagement.

  • Volunteer Supervision: Schedule and supervise volunteers to assist with activity programs.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and manage supplies for program implementation.

Desired Characteristics as a Recreation Assistant:

  • Strong Communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of building rapport with residents and their families.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • An Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Previous experience in a senior living or healthcare setting is a plus.
