Job summary

City of Waco is seeking a part-time Recreation Aide to join the Dewey Community Center team. This role helps deliver and promote a variety of recreational activities and events for residents, including setup and site management.

Under supervision, you assist with afterschool care, maintain equipment and facilities, transport participants as needed, and help create welcoming environments. A valid Texas driver’s license is required and bilingual testing may be needed for some sites.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid Texas Driver's License required.
• Bilingual testing and certification may be required depending on center.

Responsibilities

• Provides and promotes recreation activities and events; sets up sites and facilities; maintains equipment in clean and safe condition; duties vary by assignment.
• Organizes recreation and childcare activities, oversees participants, maintains discipline; enforces rules and safety at facilities.
• Develops promotional media for events and special programs; tutors youth and assists with schoolwork.
• Reports and resolves complaints, requests, safety conditions, security issues and illegal activities.
• Operates a City vehicle to transport program participants to events or activities.

Minimum Starting Salary: $15.00 hourly

Job Summary

Qualifications

Required:

• Depending on the needs of the recreation center assigned to, it may require bilingual testing and certification.

Preferred:

• Childcare or recreation programs experience

Essential Functions

• Provides and promotes recreation activities and events for City residents; sets up recreation sites and facilities for events and scheduled programs; maintains equipment and facilities in clean and safe condition; duties may vary according to job assignment.
• Organizes recreation and childcare activities, oversees program participants and maintains discipline; monitors behavior and resolves issues; enforces rules, regulations and safety precautions at indoor and outdoor facilities.
• Develops promotional media for events and special programs; tutors' youth and assists with schoolwork.
• Reports and resolves complaints, requests, safety conditions, security issues and illegal activities.
• Operates a City vehicle to transport program participants to and from community events or recreational activities.
