Naval District Washington (NDW) (NAF) seeks a flexible, on-site Community Recreation Aide for Dahlgren, VA. You will assist in information delivery, operations support, and cash handling for recreation programs, inventory, equipment, and events.

Responsibilities

Duties

Performs assigned duties and provides necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information and support of community recreation programs. Provides information concerning facilities and operation.

Insures adherence to regulations, and safety, and security procedures.

Assist in maintaining routine reports and/or perform clerical, custodial, and/or general maintenance duties as needed.

Operates a cash registers, point of sale (POS) system. Processes product or service transactions including equipment loan, rentals, resale, and program registration; receive payments and makes change as required.

Provides customer service by greeting patrons in person and by answering the telephone. Takes messages and handles customer request or referral s to the appropriate staff member.

All the above mentioned task relate to community recreation program delivery, e.g. inventory control, equipment inspection, restocking, point of sale system operation, and cash handling.

Adheres to NAVMED P-5010 sanitation regulations.

Provides support for Community Recreation event set up and break down.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Must pass all applicable records and background check.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate possess the following:

  • Ability to read, comprehend and adhere to published rules, regulations, standard operating procedures, checklist, and other guides.
  • Ability to learn MWR policies, Rules, and regulations, involving the Community Recreation Program
  • Ability to perform basic custodial task e.g. sweeping mopping, vacuuming, wiping, dusting, etc.
  • Ability to perform basic computer operations and keyboarding skills to include operation of POS systems as well as desk top computers.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations i.e. addition subtraction multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to perform customer service delivery methods to identify customer needs, deliver expected service and/or resolve routine customer issues.
  • Knowledge that provides a basic understanding of elements of the moral welfare and recreation department to answer customer questions and/or refer them to appropriate activity.
