Job summary

New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM seeks a part-time Recreation Aide to support the Campus Recreation team. You will assist with front-line operations, member service, and facility safety in the fitness center, under supervision of the Recreation Manager.

Ideal candidates are NMHU students with First Aid/CPR and Defensive Driving certifications or willingness to obtain them, and able to work evenings and weekends. Lifting up to 100 lbs may be required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as an NMHU student.
• Current First Aid and CPR/AED verification or willingness to become certified.
• Current Defensive Driving Certification or willingness to become certified.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift and move fitness equipment (up to 100 lbs)

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patrons; check IDs and enforce facility policies
• Monitor fitness areas to ensure safe and appropriate use of equipment
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the fitness center
• Assist with opening and closing procedures
• Safely lift, move, transport, and set up fitness center equipment as required
• Respond to incidents, emergencies, and report equipment issues as needed
• Support special events, intramural sports, and general recreation operations
• Follow all NMHU policies, safety procedures, and risk management protocols and other duties as assigned

Under direct supervision of the Campus Recreation Manager, Recreation Aides provide front‑line support to ensure a safe, welcoming, and well‑maintained fitness environment for students, faculty, and staff. Recreation Aides assist with daily operations, customer service, equipment, oversight, and facility safety and cleanliness.
