Job summary

Wheaton Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a dedicated Recreation Aide to support residents through physical, creative, cognitive, social, spiritual, and community programs.

You will lead activities, document participation, assist with transportation, and collaborate with the Recreation Director to provide engaging daily experiences for residents with diverse needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies governing the center.
• Ability to read, write and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Provide interactive and enjoyable activities for residents.
• Lead games, crafts, and trips for residents.
• Conduct one-on-one visits with residents.
• Lead groups of varying sizes.
• Document daily resident participation.
• Assist in transporting residents to recreation programs.
• Assist residents with participation in religious programs.
• Assist with leisure recreation.
• Attend in-service training programs.
• Maintain, store, and use recreation supplies.
• Perform other duties as directed by Recreation Director.

Position Title: Recreation Aide

Occupational Exposure: Category II

Department: Recreation

Reports To: Recreation Director

Position Summary: The Recreation Aide is needed for a skilled and intermediate care facility. We serve clients with mental health needs who have aged with their chronic illness.Recreation services will include physical, creative, cognitive, social, spiritual, and community programs in accordance with customers’ needs.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• The activity aide will be responsible for providing interactive and enjoyable activities.
• Play games, craft, and take residents out for out trips.
• Visit residents’ room for one on one.
• Lead small, medium, and large groups.
• Document daily recording of resident’s participation.
• Assists in transporting customers to and from recreation programs.
• Assists customers with participation in religious programs.
• Assists customers with leisure recreation.
• Attends appropriate in-service training programs.
• Assists in the maintenance, storage, and use of the recreation department supplies.
• Performs other responsibilities as directed by the Recreation Director.

Specific Educational/Vocational Requirements:

• High School degree or equivalent.
• Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies governing the center.
• Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.
