Job summary

The W Group is the leading provider of assisted living and adult care in New York State. We are seeking a compassionate Recreation Aide to join our team in a people-centered environment.

If you enjoy bringing joy to others and connecting with seniors, we’d love to meet you. You will assist in daily activities, support participation in group and individual sessions, and help implement programs that improve residents’ quality of life.

Qualifications

• When working with seniors, maintain a positive, “Yes I can” mindset.
• Experience in recreation, activities, or related field preferred.
• Interest in art, music, dance, trivia, exercise, games, movies, literature, or poetry.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist Recreation team in setting up, running, and wrapping up daily activities.
• Support and encourage resident participation in group and one-on-one sessions.
• Help implement programs that enhance residents' quality of life.
• Engage with residents during activities and provide hands-on support.
• Assist with community outreach and resource coordination as directed.
• Support the Recreation team with related duties as needed.

What You'll Do

• Assist the Recreation team in setting up, running, and wrapping up daily activities and programs

• Support and encourage resident participation in large group, small group, and one-on-one sessions

• Help implement recreational programs that enhance residents' quality of life

• Engage with residents during activities, providing hands-on support and a friendly presence

• Assist with community outreach and resource coordination as directed

• Support the Recreation team with other related duties as needed

What We're Looking For

• A "Yes, I can" attitude and genuine enthusiasm for working with seniors

• Experience in recreation, activities, or a related field preferred

• Interest or skill in at least one area such as art, music, dance, trivia, exercise, games, movies, literature, or poetry

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with residents from all backgrounds

• Clear communication skills and the ability to encourage and motivate participants

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
