Job summary

The Salvation Army in Pittsburgh is seeking an individual to maintain a safe, orderly, and therapeutic environment for residents. You will evaluate behavioral and emotional needs, facilitate Daily Living and Life Skills groups, and support recovery efforts as part of a dedicated treatment team.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, client orientation, documenting group sessions, and coordinating with staff. A valid driver’s license and PA clearances are required.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse treatment and recovery.
  • PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting and The Salvation Army's KeepSAfe training required.

Responsibilities

  • Listens to clients concerning all areas of treatment.
  • Maintains safe, orderly, and therapeutic environment for clients including crisis intervention.
  • Trains clients on program expectations and responsibilities, including detail assignments.
  • Orient new clients to unit, program, and milieu.
  • Communicates with staff in written logs or verbally.
  • Attends program meetings and trainings as directed by Harbor Light Center leadership.
  • Evaluates behavioral and emotional needs of clients and provides input.
  • Assists with interventions with clients (medication help, pass times, daily living and life skills groups).
  • Transports clients for drop-off and pick-up (recovery meetings, store runs, discharges).
  • Performs monthly fire drills according to DDAP regulations.
  • Administers, collects, and records urine drug testing data as directed.
  • Clerical and safety/security duties as assigned.
  • Completes daily documentation on all facilitated groups; submitted to Program Manager daily.
  • Ensures safety and security of residents and facility.
  • Additional tasks as program develops
  • On occasion may supervise children of client families and perform other duties as assigned.

Maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for residents. Evaluates behavioral and emotional needs of clients and provides input. Works together as a treatment team to effectively meet the needs of the residents. Facilitates Daily Living and Life Skills groups as required.

Responsibilities
  • Listens to clients concerning all areas of treatment
  • Maintains safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for clients including crisis intervention.
  • Insures and trains clients on program expectations and responsibilities, including detail assignments
  • Orient new clients to unit, program, and milieu.
  • Communicates with staff either verbally or in written communication logs.
  • Attends program meetings.
  • Attends trainings as determined by Harbor Light Center leadership
  • Evaluates behavioral and emotional needs of clients and provides input.
  • Assists with interventions with clients including but not limited to:
    • helping with medication,
    • pass times
    • facilitating daily living and life skills groups.
  • Transports clients for drop off and pick up as needed including, but not limited to the following:
    • recovery meetings
    • store runs,
    • discharges.
  • Perform monthly fire drill according to DDAP regulations.
  • Administer, collect, and record results of client drug urine testing as directed and/or per program requirements.
  • Clerical and safety/security duties as assigned.
  • Complete daily documentation on all facilitated groups. Notes will be turned in to the Program Manager by the end of the shift for review and filing.
  • Always ensures the safety and security of the residents and facility.
  • Additional tasks as appropriate as program develops

Additional Responsibilities:

  • On occasion, maybe interact alone and/or supervise the children of client families
  • Other duties as assigned as the program develops.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse treatment and recovery
  • PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting and The Salvation Army's KeepSAfe training required.

Education and Experience:

  • Knowledge of and experience with recovery
  • 1-2 year's experience in related field, a plus
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • All three PA Clearances required upon employment and thereafter upon renewal date: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Request for Criminal Record, and Fingerprint based federal criminal history.
  • References required.
