Job summary

Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. in Methuen, MA is seeking a Recovery Specialist I for the Breakwater Program, a long‑term treatment program for adolescent males. You will help maintain a safe, structured environment, follow program policies, and model professionalism and supportive mentorship to youth.

Shifts are 3:00pm‑11:00pm or 1:00pm‑11:00pm (Thu–Mon or Fri–Mon) with a pay rate of $19.00–$21.00/hour. Benefits include health/dental/vision, company‑paid life insurance, generous PTO, tuition

Qualifications

• Must have experience working with at-risk adolescent males.
• Ability to interact professionally with clients and staff.
• Demonstrated maturity, communication, listening and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment for residents.
• Following program policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Modeling professionalism, responsibility, and respectful interactions with youth.
• Assisting with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to ensure resident safety.
• Transporting youth to school, work, appointments, and recreational activities.
• Serving as a youth advocate by providing guidance, support, and goal-focused mentorship through the advocate system.

Location: Methuen, MA. Adolescent Male Program. The Breakwater Program is a long‑term treatment program for adolescent males referred by the Department of Children and Families. As a therapeutic community, we use trauma‑informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy, family support, and recovery‑based approaches to substance abuse treatment. Our goal is to help youth build pro‑social skills, support their recovery, and work toward a stable, productive future. Recovery Specialists play a key role in guiding and supporting youth through this process.

Schedule: 3:00pm-11:00pm, Thursday-Monday or 1:00pm-11:00pm, Friday-Monday (based on program availability at time of hire)

Pay rate: $19.00-$21.00/hour
