Job summary

Acro Service Corp is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide recovery-focused services as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities include crisis management, coordinating community referrals, documenting information, and participating in meetings to support clients with mental health or substance use recovery.

Applicants should have 5 years of recovery and peer experience, a high school diploma or GED, and be comfortable working with diverse individuals and agencies.

Qualifications

• Must have 5 years of recovery experience.
• 5 years of peer experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Past or present consumer of mental health or substance abuse services with a history of managing one’s own illness.
• Awareness of the importance of recovery in living with a mental illness or addictions problem.
• Experience working directly with people in a service-oriented field is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with any community supports including any social determinant needs.
• Assist the client in increasing social support networks of relatives, friends and/or significant others.
• To provide crisis management for client in times of a crisis.
• Work in cooperation with a multi-disciplinary team of other Professionals and the State Police.
• Attend Agency staff meetings, other office related duties, and Individual Supervision.
• Attain established standards of productivity.
• Observe all rules of confidentiality relating to clinical information and treatment, both internally and when dealing with external agencies and/or individuals.
• Responsible for understanding client’s rights policy and procedures.
• Participate in staff training and development.
• Always maintain professional standards.
• Observe the guidelines established within the Code of Ethics and Conduct.
• Provides quality, sufficient, and appropriate services
• Participates in weekly meetings
• Coordinates community referrals and services for clients
• Assists in helping clients to meet personal goals
• Performs any other duties assigned by Supervisor within the scope of these duties.
• Documents on tracker all pertinent information
• Be at work on time and always available.

PEER CERTIFICATION EXPECTED WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF HIRE

To provide peer support services as part of a multi-disciplinary team to persons with mental health needs and/or substance use disorder.

The overall focus of the job description is to refer to any agency/program that can help the individual with any need that they have.

Supervision Received

Reports to site Behavioral Health Professional for daily work-flow. Also, Monthly in-person supervision with Peer Supervisor, Shawn Hastings.

• 5 years of Peer experience
