BayMark Health Services, a progressive substance abuse treatment organization, is seeking a Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to support patients in outpatient programs in Maine. The role emphasizes evidence-based counseling, crisis support, and collaboration with clinicians to promote recovery.

The ideal candidate holds CADC or LADC in Maine, with at least a high school diploma; bachelor’s or master’s preferred. Salary $25–$29/hour plus comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• CADC or LADC in the state of Maine.
• Minimum: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a social or health services field.
• Previous experience with chemically dependent individuals is a positive factor.
• Certification required: CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) or LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor).
• Essential: Ability to maintain a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward the patient population.
• Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination.
• Facilitates and reviews initial treatment plans with each patient.
• Completes Bio-psychosocial assessment.
• Involves families and significant others in recovery whenever possible.
• Develops and participates in individual or group patient teaching projects.
• Other related duties as determined by supervisor.
