The Recovery Coach role focuses on peer-based guidance, autonomy advocacy, and connection to community resources within the NOWA program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or HS Diploma/GED with 1 year related experience.
  • Must have or have had been a recipient of Addiction Recovery Services.
  • Demonstrated understanding of serving culturally diverse populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.

  • Advocate for programs, environments, policies, procedures and attitudes that support personal autonomy and recovery.
  • Develop, maintain and share information on community resources related to the interests of those supported.
  • Coordinate and lead informal groups related to peer support, recovery, resiliency, and resources.
  • Advocate for people served, promoting autonomy and rights, and connecting to resources.

Overview

Starting Rate: $21.50/hour

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8am-4pm and Wednesday 11am-7pm

This position is based out of No One Walks Alone (NOWA).

Recovery Coaches are fully integrated team members who identify as a former recipient of recovery services and now use that experience to provide individual and group support to people receiving services from Advocates’ Behavioral Health Services. Recovery Coaches approach their work with hope, promote self-determination, and assist in connecting people to resources, supports and opportunities in the larger community outside of the mental health system. Recovery Coaches provide expertise and consultation to the entire Division to help create a culture in which the point of view and preferences of each person we support are recognized, understood, respected, honored, validated and integrated into all services, support, treatment, rehabilitation and community recovery activities.

Minimum Education Required

High School Diploma/GED

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group peer support services to people receiving services from Advocates’ Behavioral Health Services.
  • Advocate for programs, environments, policies, procedures and attitudes that support personal autonomy wherever possible and promote recovery and the idea of life.
  • Develop, maintain and share current information on community resources related to the interests of those they support.
  • Coordinate and lead informal groups related to peer support, recovery, resiliency, and resources.
  • Advocate for the people with whom they work, promoting their autonomy, protecting their rights, and providing access to resources, information, skills and supports.
  • Connect and network with the larger community and other area peer support providers for the purposes of developing best practices, gathering community resources and mutual support.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field; or High School Diploma/GED and 1 year related experience.
  • Must currently be or have previously been a recipient of the Addiction Recovery Services.
  • Strongly prefer that a candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license, access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport clients.
