Cambridge Health Alliance is expanding services to address substance use disorders for its patients and communities. We are expanding our addiction consult service team to provide treatment for patients who are in our emergency departments or inpatient units and who could benefit from additional clinical services. This program will be multidisciplinary and interdepartmental, and will collaborate with other departments throughout Cambridge Health Alliance and with our community partners in order to meet the needs of our patients with substance use disorders. This is a grant funded position.

The Recovery Coach provides clinically-based peer recovery support services to support patient engagement into recovery support and addiction treatment. They will collaborate with other members of the care team to identify needs and resources with the patient, family and health care team, create a treatment plan appropriate to the patient’s needs and resources.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years sobriety and 5-10 years experience in peer recovery support work
  • Experience working as a Recovery Coach in a hospital/Emergency Department setting preferred
  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree desirable
  • Certification:
  • Current Addiction Recovery Coach certification in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts preferred; certification required within one year of
  • employment
  • Valid Drivers License in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Cognitive abilities:
  • Ability to collaborate with other disciplines both inside and outside of CHA.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with staff, outside agencies and payers, patients and families of a diverse and multicultural population.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality/privacy in accordance with institutional standards
  • Ability to protect one’s own recovery status while working with patients going through challenges and/or actively using drugs
