Job summary

Samaritas in Michigan is seeking a Recovery Coach for our Belding SUD Offices. This in-person role supports individuals in recovery by offering mentorship, advocacy, and resource navigation to build durable paths to wellness.

You will partner with clinicians and care teams to develop individualized recovery plans, connect clients with community resources, attend recovery events, and help strengthen programs through feedback and collaboration within a respected faith-based human services

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s preferred.
  • Lived experience in substance use and recovery with at least 2 years of sobriety.
  • Peer Recovery Support (PRS) certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • CCAR certification preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals or families in recovery preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized recovery plans with clients.
  • Identify goals, strengths, and recovery resources.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, case managers, and care teams.
  • Bridge between clients and the recovery community; attend events to build connections.
  • Support MAT and other services in alignment with care guidelines.
  • Build relationships with community partners and referral sources; assist outreach.

Are you in recovery and passionate about helping others begin or sustain their journey? We’re looking for a Recovery Coach who brings lived experience, empathy, and strength to support individuals and families navigating Substance Use Disorder.

In this role, you’ll serve as a mentor, advocate, and connector—helping clients access resources, build recovery plans, and find hope in their path forward. Your voice and experience will make a difference every day.

What You’ll Do

As a Recovery Coach, you’ll support clients through connection, guidance, and advocacy:

Client Support & Recovery Planning
  • Partner with clients to develop individualized recovery plans
  • Help identify goals, strengths, and recovery resources
  • Collaborate with clinicians, case managers, and care teams to support treatment plans
Community Engagement & Advocacy
  • Serve as a bridge between clients and the recovery community
  • Attend community events and recovery meetings to build connections and awareness
  • Support and evaluate community recovery resources and identify gaps
Collaboration & Teamwork
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute insights from a lived-experience perspective
  • Work alongside providers and community partners to ensure coordinated care
  • Support clients receiving MAT and other services in alignment with care guidelines
Outreach & Program Growth
  • Build relationships with community partners and referral sources
  • Assist with outreach efforts and share information about available services
  • Provide recommendations to strengthen programs through feedback and quality improvement processes
What You Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent required (bachelor’s preferred)
  • Lived experience in substance use and recovery with at least 2 years of sobriety required
  • Peer Recovery Support (PRS) certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • CCAR certification preferred
  • Experience working with individuals or families in recovery preferred
