Job summary

The Michigan State Police (MSP) is a full-service policing agency with statewide jurisdiction, providing over 60 different services to residents and agencies. The Records Resource Technician supports the Records Resource Section, handling routine requests from state, local, or federal agencies and assisting with FOIA duties to compile responsive records.

Education typically requires high school completion, with substitutions allowed for experience (two years of college or a Bachelor's degree).

Qualifications

Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience: One year of administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service OR one year as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
Alternate Education and Experience: completion of two years of college may substitute for the experience requirement.
Alternate Education and Experience: possession of a Bachelor’s degree may substitute for the experience requirement.
This position requires passing a pre-employment screening including drug screen, criminal history background check, and fingerprint check.

Responsibilities

Provides support for the Records Resource Section and processes routine, non-complex records requests from state, local, or federal agencies.
Supports FOIA administration with assistance searching for and compiling responsive records.
