The United States Space Command (USSPACECOM) will be relocating to Huntsville, AL and is searching for a well-qualified candidate to fill a Records and Information Management Specialist, NH-0308-III position.

Position Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the full lifecycle of USSPACECOM Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and forms—from records creation and maintenance to disposition, tracking, validation, and retirement—impacting every level of the organization.
  • Provides Command-wide technical advice, guidance, and interpretation of directives to HQ USSPACECOM staff and Components on how to disseminate, organize, and write material to obtain effective results from their publications. Works directly with the author or subject matter expert to confirm technical accuracy of information, make changes, coordinate document through the Office of the USSPACECOM Chief of Staff for signature and policy implementation.
  • Administers the Command's Records and Information Management (RIM) program, ensuring compliance with Department of War (DoW), National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), and Joint Staff records policy and safeguards vital information assets through the application of specialized knowledge and judgment to interpret policies and regulations, supporting effective and economical management.
  • Assists subordinate organization records managers and subject-matter experts to meet required records management standards. Conducts formal and/or informal training for personnel on maintenance of records, file plans, Electronic Records Management, forms and publications, and other areas of records management deemed necessary.
  • Leads data-driven decision-making by collecting, tracking, and compiling data on publications, forms, and records activity and applying analytical techniques to provide insights into program effectiveness and trends.
  • Bolsters program effectiveness by driving coordination between Knowledge Management (KM) and Communications teams to improve user navigation and locate archived content across SharePoint platforms, enhancing information accessibility and promoting transparency while balancing competing needs and priorities.
Desired Skills & Expertise
  • Knowledge of Records and Information Management Principles, Practices, and Legal/Regulatory Requirements: Encompasses a comprehensive understanding of records lifecycle management, publications management, forms management, and applicable federal laws, DoW directives, Air Force instructions, and NARA guidance.
  • Knowledge of Content Management Platforms and Electronic Records Repositories: Includes a working knowledge of standard content management platforms, particularly Microsoft SharePoint, and a basic understanding of electronic records repositories and document libraries on classified and unclassified networks. Supports efficient information storage, retrieval, and access.
  • Skill in Data Management and Analysis for Information Management Programs: Encompasses the ability to organize, track, and maintain records and publications data, including indexes, logs, checklists, and performance metrics, using spreadsheets, SharePoint lists, or data dashboards. Supports data-driven decision-making and program performance monitoring.
  • Skill in Communicating Information Management Requirements and Guidance: Includes the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to assist in the development of guidance documents, training materials, status updates, and user-friendly process documentation. Supports effective outreach, training, and user support.
  • Ability to Collaborate and Coordinate with Stakeholders to Ensure Compliance and Effective Information Governance: Includes the ability to collaborate and coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including directorate liaisons, records managers, legal counsel, privacy officers, and IT staff, to ensure compliance with Command processes and promote effective information governance practices.
Conditions of Employment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance
  • Occasional travel away from regular duty location may be required.
  • May be required to work irregular duty hours including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
