Job summary

School District 197 is seeking a Supervisory Paraprofessional - Recess for Garlough Environmental Magnet School (GEMS). The position supports K-4 students with indoor/outdoor supervision, cafeteria monitoring, and conflict mediation during recess and student contact days in the 2026-2027 school year.

The role requires outdoor work in all weather, collaboration with a three-person team, and regular communication with the principal.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising students K-4 in a school setting.
• Ability to communicate with adults and mediate conflicts.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Part of a three-person team; strong collaboration skills.
• Patience; experience with student mediation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Active supervision during indoor/outdoor recess and in the cafeteria for students K-4.
• Maintain safety and order in all weather conditions.
• Build positive relationships with students and mediate conflicts.
• Communicate with other staff and principal regarding incidents.
• Attend meetings as assigned by the principal and support total school program objectives.
