Job summary

ScionHealth, located near West Covina, CA, seeks a receptionist to operate the hospital console switchboard, greet visitors, and route calls to the appropriate departments. You will relay messages for doctors and staff, manage pages for emergencies, and support the daily flow of the front desk in a long-term acute care setting.

The role requires fluent English, regular attendance, and the ability to perform additional duties as assigned within a clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Courteously answers, routes and screens outside calls to the proper department or extension number, transfers calls, takes accurate messages.
• Answers and screens in-house calls to take messages for doctors and staff, pages for needs.
• Greets visitors, vendors, physicians and directs to proper location.
• Pages code blue, fire alerts, stat calls, emergency calls, physicians, and staff per protocol.
• Informs appropriate personnel of meetings, fire drills, disaster drills and other hospital functions by announcing them over the intercom.
• Maintains a file of hospital personnel and departments by name and extension number as well as phone numbers of hospitals within the area.
• Monitors emergency patients at main entrance and notifies clinical manager when necessary.
• Receives disaster information and signals all clear when appropriate.

Kindred Hospital San Gabriel Valley is a 76-bed long-term acute care hospital offering the same in-depth care you would receive in a traditional hospital, but for an extended recovery period. We partner with your physician and offer 24-hour clinical care seven days a week so you can start your journey to wellness. We are located just over 2 miles outside of downtown West Covina, and right down the street from Covina Square Shopping Center.

Job Summary

Operates a console telephone switchboard in order to relay incoming, outgoing and interoffice calls. Greets and receives visitors and directs as appropriate.

Essential Functions

• Courteously answers, routes and screens outside calls to the proper department or extension number, transfers calls, takes accurate messages and/or holds calls when necessary.
• Answers and screens in-house calls in order to take phone messages for doctors and staff personnel, requests for pages and to complete calls for patients who may need assistance.
• Greets visitors, vendors, physicians and identifies self and briefly explains hospital policies (parking/visitation) if called upon; directs to proper location as needed.
• Pages code blue, fire alerts, stat calls, emergency calls, physicians, and staff, per protocol.
• Informs appropriate personnel of meetings, fire drills, disaster drills and other hospital functions by announcing them over the intercom.
• Maintains a file of hospital personnel and departments by name and extension number as well as phone numbers of hospitals within the area.
• Maintains an alphabetical and numerical log of patient names, room numbers and telephone extensions in order to expedite the relaying of calls.
• Monitors emergency patients when entering the hospital main entrance. Notifies clinical manager when necessary.
• Receives disaster information, notifies proper personnel and departments. Signals all clear when appropriate.

Pay Range: $17.81/hr
