The Department of Natural Resources has an exciting opportunity at the Northwest Region Headquarters Office in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Join our reception team as anOffice Assistant 3 and assist in providing excellent customer service to the amazing communities of Northwest Washington and beyond!

The duty station for this position is located in Sedro-Woolley, WA, in the scenic Skagit Valley. World-class outdoor recreation opportunities abound in the area. The main entrance to North Cascades National Park is only a 1-hour drive to the east. The San Juan Islands can be accessed from Anacortes, just a 45-minute drive west. Additional recreation opportunities can be found in the surrounding Mt. Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest and state forest trust lands. For more urban experiences, Seattle, WA, and Vancouver, B.C., are each only an hour and a half drive away.

We are looking for an individual who is accountable, able to multi-task, and has developed professional oral and written communication skills; along with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, is a self-starter, and is proficient in office computer programs and office processes.

The Office Assistants in our reception team play a key role in maintaining an inclusive and respectful working environment while working with internal employees, external customers, private industries, tribes, and partner agencies to ensure administrative support is provided and correct information is communicated professionally along with directing both in-person and over the phone inquiries to the correct programs within the Department. The Department of Natural Resources’ mission is to manage, sustain, and protect the health and productivity of Washington’s lands and waters to meet the needs of present and future generations. This position supports that mission by performing front desk and reception support duties for the Northwest Region.Responsibilities:
  • Greet and assist customers, in-person and via a multi-line phone system.
  • Maintain several check-in logs.
  • Receive and receipt money, maintain daily cash.
  • Assist with maintaining the Region calendar.
  • Schedule conference rooms and conference lines.
  • Assist with motor pool reservations.
  • Process incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail daily.
  • Assist in the management of multiple shared email inboxes.
  • Assist with the complex tasks of monthly entry, reporting, and tracking of the Mileage Equipment Reports for vehicles assigned to the Region.
  • Provide backup coverage to the Resource Support Group as directed by the supervisor.
  • Provide simple and complex miscellaneous administrative support to the region staff as directed by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of clerical experience.
  • Proficient in computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective organizational skills.
  • Self-starter, requires minimal supervision.

Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment:
  • The position's assigned duty station is the Northwest Region Headquarters Office located in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Work is performed in a typical office setting.
  • Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings or trainings. If overnight stays are required, the employee is eligible for per diem and lodging costs when in travel status, except when provided by the agency.
