JOB SUMMARY

I. JOB SUMMARY: This is a non-exempt position. The employee in this position is responsible for receiving and/or screening telephone calls and greeting visitors to the office by responding to their concerns and/or by directing them to the proper authority. This position also performs general clerical duties as directed by supervisor and County Attorney.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Receive and screen telephone calls and greet visitors to the office and respond to their concerns and/or direct them to the proper authority.
  • Complete Pre-disposition Report forms as directed by supervisor
  • Open and distribute mail
  • General typing
  • Scan, electronically file and keep organized a large amount of documents
  • Perform general tasks and related duties as requested by supervisor
  • Duty to maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that employee gets along with customers, citizens, coworkers, and management.
  • Being courteous, respectful, helpful, and civil with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude
  • Obligation to be reliable, responsible, dependable, and fulfill duties
  • Must show up for work on a regular and predictable basis as scheduled
  • Handle and process cash payments
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience: Two years of general office and/or legal office experience is preferred. Expected to be performing in a satisfactory manner after twelve months on the job.
  • Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Training with emphasis in secretarial and/or legal process and/or data processing is desired.
  • Knowledge: Must have the ability to receive, interpret, and follow verbal and written instructions. Required to read, write, and speak English fluently with the ability to speak a foreign language helpful. Must have or acquire knowledge relating to civil and criminal law.
  • Working Conditions: Very little adverse working conditions exist in this position. May be required to work overtime.
  • Physical Requirements: Requires sufficient visual acuity to be able to read and write and operate equipment common to this position. Requires sufficient hearing level to be able to effectively communicate with people directly or by telephone. Frequently required to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds to a height of 84 inches.
