Job summary

Smith+Nephew is seeking a Receiving Inspector to ensure quality and compliance of incoming materials that support medical technology production. You will inspect against drawings, approve/reject materials, and maintain audit-ready documentation in a hybrid work environment.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in quality inspection within regulated industries, familiarity with FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485, and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds while working in a team-driven setting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical or vocational training in a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of quality or receiving inspection experience within a medical device or other regulated industry.
  • Understanding of FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485 requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with sampling plans, inspection methodologies, and measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, and vision systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods while performing inspection activities.

Responsibilities

  • Approve or reject incoming materials and ensure correct identification, segregation, and status control.
  • Support the timely release of materials to production while maintaining compliance with quality procedures.
  • Identify and document nonconforming materials in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and audit ready inspection records and documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant inspection area.
  • Support other operational activities as required.

The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $44,250 - 66,500 USD annually.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.

It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role at Smith + Nephew.

Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
