Job description

Job Summary

Under general supervision successfully lead the receiving of product as appropriate into the warehouse for its storage and ultimate shipment to the customer. Lead the work of assigned team members ensuring compliance with company procedures, policies, productivity and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Transport product using forklifts, pallet jacks, pickers, hand trucks, and the like off arriving shipping containers and store within the warehouse/distribution center for loading and shipping.
  • Understand delivery schedule and ensure preparation for receipt is completed prior to arrival, to include work assignments.
  • Distribute work assignments and ensure completion as required; provide guidance and assist with resolving problems or addressing questions.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory, receiving, and related records and reports.
  • Ensure receiving timeframes are met as agreed upon; monitor and report on shipment receipt status as appropriate.
  • Accurately record and maintain receiving records to include weight, quantity, and the like; record information in the Warehouse Management System/ERP as appropriate.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory transactions and take appropriate corrective action when necessary to correct errors.
  • Obtain appropriate signatures and sign-offs to include incoming materials and bills of ladings; ensure appropriate paperwork is provided to the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Coordinate with vendors for the delivery of materials.
  • Receive and distribute parcel deliveries daily.
  • Resolve simple or routine problems; keep the Supervisor/Manager apprised and informed; assist daily in ensuring smooth operations.
  • Serve as a trainer to new and current Team Members; answer questions and provide guidance; provide equipment training.
  • Serve as a safety champion and promote the use of safe work habits and equipment; follow and promote adherence to established safety regulations and procedures; conduct regular visual safety inspection of forklifts and other bulk handling equipment.
  • Lead the day-to-day activities of an assigned team. Provide guidance to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the established policies and applicable laws.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary.
Minimum Education

High School Diploma or completion of GED equivalent.

Minimum Work Experience

Two (2) years of shipping/receiving experience, preferably in the consumer products industry.

Licenses/Certifications

Valid licensure/certificate to operate a forklift.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of distribution/warehousing standards.
  • Knowledge of bulk parcel shipping methods and requirements (i.e. FedEx and UPS).
  • Knowledge of international shipping/receiving procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Proficiency using a Personal Computer (PC) to include Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Proficiency using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform and/or Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Good communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment and across the Company.
  • Ability to lead/guide the work of coworkers.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible, non-traditional hours when necessary.
  • Ability to operate large distribution and packaging equipment (i.e. stretch wrap machine).
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.
