Job summary

Aspen Surgery Center in Walnut Creek is seeking a materials management professional to plan, procure, and sometimes distribute supplies and services for the surgical centers. You will assist AP with invoice reconciliation and liaise between site and corporate Materials Managers.

Applicants should have AS degree preferred, 3–4 years in medical materials management (or 1–2 in OR materials), and strong supervisory skills. Knowledge of surgical settings and Excel is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent; AS degree preferred.
  • 3–4 years experience in medical materials management, or 1–2 years in OR materials management.
  • Background in surgical setting preferred.
  • Strong supervisory and organizational skills required.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Under the direction of the Materials Manager performs a variety of planning, procuring, and sometimes distribution of supplies, equipment and services for the surgical centers. Performs value analysis activities as necessary. Assist A/P with reconciliation of invoices. Serves as a liaison between surgery center Materials Managers and corporate Materials Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Knowledge of Surgical Specialties and their prospective equipment & supply needs.
  • Product prioritization and management, keeping number of similar items to a minimum.
  • Maintain inventory levels to provide good asset turnover.
  • Manage the center staff’s management of supplier’s relationships and agreements.
  • Knowledge of Packaging, Transport, Health & Safety regulatory guidelines and compliance to ensure facility compliance. .
  • Assist in Inventory updating and Standardization.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School graduate or equivalent, A.S degree preferred.
  • Three to four years experience in medical materials management or one to two years as OR materials management.
  • Background in Surgical Setting considered.
  • Strong supervisory and organizational skills required.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to work well independently and perform duties under pressure.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of excel.
