Job summary

Lippert in Chicago, IL is seeking a full-time Shipping Clerk to complete daily shipping schedules. You will track loads, prepare shipping documents, coordinate packing and loading, and ensure timely deliveries while maintaining communication with departments.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 5 years of manufacturing experience, proficiency with Word/Excel, and experience with UPS WorldShip. The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds and working on-site in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage deliveries and coordinate daily shipping.
  • Post daily deliveries and prepare shipper documents.
  • Maintain Returned Shippers and file.
  • Arrange transportation and communicate status to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate packing, labeling, loading, and unloading shipments.
  • Perform regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Prepare shipping documents (bills of lading, packing slips).
  • Perform quality checks on shipments and tracking numbers.
  • Address shipping issues promptly and collaborate with logistics and customer service.
  • Provide updates to management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary/Objective:

Complete the shipment of the daily shipping schedule in the best timely manner possible. This is accomplished by continually tracking loads that are still in process and keeping the lines of communication open with the departments still needing to handle the chassis.

Required Education and Experience
  1. High School Diploma
  2. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  3. Experience in manufacturing and production is preferred, 5 years of experience
Essential Functions:

  1. Managing Deliveries.
  2. Posting daily deliveries by printing a shipper for contractors to deliver.
  3. Maintain Returned Shippers by scanning to Accounts Payable & File
  4. Assist with handling Customer Requests. Level of involvement will vary but will allow need to make sure transportation is arranged and communicated.
  5. Coordinate shipping activities, including packing, labeling, and loading and unloading shipments
  6. Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
  7. Prepare shipping documents including bills of landing, shipping labels, packing slips
  8. Perform quality checks on outgoing shipments, tracking numbers, and delivery confirmation
  9. Adress and resolve shipping-related issues and discrepencies promptly
  10. Collaborate with other departments, such as logistics and customer service to meet delivery and resolve customer inquiries
  11. Communicate shipping updates and issues to management
  12. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Competencies:
  1. Must be able to work as a part of a team to achieve the company’s overall goals;
  2. Must demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills (English);
  3. Must be able to read and process written communication including, but not limited to measurements, directions, instructions, etc.;
  4. Must possess successful problem-solving skills
  5. Must be able to exhibit tact and diplomacy and maintain professional relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, customers, etc.;
  6. Must be able to work under physically and mentally stressful situations;
  7. Must be able to prioritize and easily adapt to changes through the day.
  8. Minimum 3 years experience and/or training or combination of education and experience
  9. Basic computer skills include Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  10. Ability to read picklists and orders
  11. Proficiency in UPS Worldship is required
  12. Must know how to operate a forklift
Supervisory Responsibility:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires 98% standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling. The employee may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires Personal Protective Equipment. Protective Equipment supplied by the company includes: Coating suit, Coating Boots, Spray Socks, Respirator, Work Gloves, Safety Glasses and Ear Plugs. Employees may be required to provide additional Protective Equipment (Safety Shoes, etc.).

This is a full-time hourly position.

Pay Rate

$18.00-$20.00 per hour

Freedman by Lippert determines pay based on several factors, including but not limited to the position being offered, education, skills, work experience, and other factors permitted by law. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
