Job description

Position Summary:

The Rec-Plex Sharks are seeking a dedicated Assistant Swim Coach to join our coaching team. In this role, you will work closely with the Head Coach and Head Group Coach to teach and train swimmers in proper stroke techniques and racing strategies suitable for their age and developmental level. Your responsibilities will include fostering positive relationships with swimmers, their parents, and fellow coaching staff, participating in group practices, maintaining attendance records, and assisting with new swimmer evaluations.

Normal Shift: Varies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, instruction, and operation of the Rec-Plex Sharks USA Swim Team and instructional swimming programs.
  • Make decisions and solve problems where no established procedures exist.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Engage in continuous mental effort to ensure smooth operation and high-quality instruction.
  • Provide effective instruction and support for the swim team.
  • Oversee activities in assigned areas to ensure safety and proper conduct.
  • Address and resolve inquiries, concerns, and complaints from customers and residents.
  • Help develop, assess, and coordinate swim team activities and operations.
  • Perform general janitorial duties and maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Stay updated on trends and developments in aquatics and coaching.
  • Attend relevant meetings to contribute to team planning and strategy.
  • Assist in creating practice schedules and workouts for the swim team.

Qualifications or desired qualifications:

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Must be a current USA Certified Swimming Coach or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.
