Description Position at Pilgrim's

Rebuild Specialist (Poultry Equipment)

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides oversight and leadership for rebuilding critical processing equipment as part of Pilgrims’ Maintenance Pillar. Creates rebuild schedules for multiple locations and coordinates with those locations to ensure quality rebuilds are performed in a timely manner. Drives continuous improvement in the rebuild process to enhance reliability and reduce total cost of ownership of processing equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs routine rebuilds with assistance from local plant mechanics while following safe work practices per Pilgrims’ Safety policy.
  • Provides guidance for continuous improvement of rebuild procedures.
  • Serves as the Pilgrim’s equipment expert on processing equipment.
  • Communicates with plant management regarding the status of rebuilds prior to leaving the site.
  • Coordinates with Training Managers at locations to help create training content.
  • Assists with evaluating mechanics to validate skills for training progression.
  • Must be able to travel 90% of the time, with overnight stays of 4-5 days, including weekends.
  • Responds to periodic emergency call-outs to return plants to normal operation.
  • Provides training to mechanics and other Rebuild Specialists to expand equipment knowledge.
  • Must be able to work independently and exemplify Pilgrim values to uphold the Maintenance Pillar.
  • Must be able to traverse processing areas and equipment while observing GMP procedures and policies.
  • Must be able to interpret parts’ schematics/drawings and assist the plant with ordering required parts for successful rebuilds.
  • Willing to find solutions for problematic machines and parts to increase efficiency and sustainability.

EDUCATION:

Technical college degree preferred but not required.

EXPERIENCE:

Requires a minimum of 10 years of directly related experience. Extensive experience with first processing rotating equipment is preferred. Experience with multiple OEMs is preferred. A minimum of 2-3 years as an OEM service technician is preferred.
