About The Role

Trumbull Corp is seeking proven field leaders to plan, direct, and coordinate daily reinforcement steel installation operations on highway and heavy civil construction projects. You will supervise crews and equipment, ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with plans and specifications, and drive production, quality, and schedule goals.

This is a hands‑on leadership role working closely with the Superintendent, Project Manager, survey personnel, subcontractors, inspectors, and utility representatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct rebar crews performing layout, cutting, bending, placing, tying, securing, and supporting reinforcing steel for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, paving, barriers, footings, walls, columns, decks, and other civil structures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, bar schedules, structural details, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accurate installation.
  • Plan daily and weekly work activities to meet production goals and coordinate manpower, equipment, tools, crane support, deliveries, and access needs.
  • Ensure all work is installed to project requirements for spacing, clear cover, lap lengths, placement tolerances, embeds, dowels, chairs, and supports.
  • Coordinate with concrete, formwork, earthwork, and other trades to maintain workflow and avoid conflicts or delays.
  • Inspect completed work before pours or closures and correct deficiencies promptly to meet quality standards and pass inspections.
  • Lead daily pre‑task planning, toolbox talks, and crew briefings with a strong focus on hazard recognition, safe lifting, fall protection, rigging, housekeeping, and work‑zone safety.
  • Enforce company policies, project safety rules, and applicable OSHA requirements at all times.
  • Monitor crew attendance, productivity, workmanship, and proper use of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Track quantities installed, labor hours, production rates, and material usage; provide accurate daily reports, time records, and field updates.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection‑ready work area.
  • Assist with project layout, sequencing, and verification of readiness for concrete placement and inspections.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support successful project execution.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in reinforcing steel installation, bridge construction, or heavy civil/highway construction, including prior lead or foreman experience.
  • Strong knowledge of rebar placement methods, structural drawings, bar lists, concrete sequencing, and civil construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and rebar shop drawings accurately.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and standard construction site safety practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate crews and work effectively with superintendents, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Experience documenting daily production, labor hours, quantities, and field conditions.
  • Ability to operate or direct the safe use of common construction tools and equipment associated with rebar and civil work.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to work extended hours, weekends, and travel to project locations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, rigging/signal person, or other trade‑related certifications.
  • Experience on DOT, Turnpike, municipal, or other public infrastructure projects.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Work is performed primarily outdoors in changing weather conditions and around active highway and heavy equipment operations. Must be able to walk uneven terrain, climb on and off equipment, kneel, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry materials and tools up to 50 pounds.
