Nucor Rebar Fabrication Southwest in Boise, ID is hiring a production worker to bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars and learn safely with a mentor.

Responsibilities include operating machines, loading trailers, and maintaining a clean work area. Candidates should handle heavy lifting, tolerate outdoor conditions, and pass a pre-employment drug screen. Industry safety is emphasized throughout the role.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be age 18 or over.
• This is a safety-sensitive position; you must pass a drug test, including THC.
• Ability to read and understand basic safety and operational instructions and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

• Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
• Operate a shearing machine or a power saw to cut reinforcing bars.
• Operate a bending machine to shape reinforcing bars.
• Operate an overhead crane to move, assemble and select material for fabrication or shipment.
• Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Apply epoxy touch up with a spray gun and keep the area clean and safe.

Purpose: A rebar production worker at Nucor Rebar Fabrication will bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars in accordance with customers' orders. You'll work with a mentor who will train you on safely using all machinery. Candidates must be able to work in an outdoor environment. Previous work in construction and landscaping is a huge plus; candidates with previous trades experience tend to be successful in the role and may have a significant opportunity for advancement within the organization. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Responsibilities:

• Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
• Operate a shearing machine or a power saw to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths.
• Operate a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shape.
• Operate overhead crane to move, assemble and select material to be fabricated or shipped.
• Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Operate a spray gun in the application of epoxy touch up or reinforcing steel bars.
• Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
• Must be age 18 or over
• Due to the operating conditions of the position, this is a safety-sensitive position, you must pass a drug test, including THC

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be able to work overtime when required
• Able to read and comprehend basic safety and operational instructions
• Able to perform basic math for accurate bar measurements

Demands:

• Some heavy lifting may be necessary
• Working conditions can be noisy/ dusty/ hot/ cold
