Job summary

Voyant Photonics in New York City is seeking an embedded software engineer to bring up new boards quickly and own drivers and firmware. You’ll split time between board bring-up, firmware iterations, and implementing control loops on hardware, collaborating with a close-knit team on frontier photonics hardware.

The role focuses on robust real-time embedded C++ development, hardware prototyping, and proving algorithms on actual boards.

Qualifications

• BS in computer engineering, computer science or related field.
• 2+ years of embedded software experience in a professional environment.
• Proficiency in C or C++ on microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M, STM32 or similar).
• Python for test automation and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop real-time embedded firmware and control drivers for new boards.
• Bring up new boards by understanding schematics/datasheets, probing signals, and performing small SMT reworks.
• Implement control loops and prove they work on hardware with test setups and data analysis.
• Write drivers and firmware structure for board reuse on future designs.
• Evaluate and ensure firmware meets required performance on hardware.
