Job summary

EDF Trading North America, LLC is seeking a Real Time Trader to support the ERCOT desk in managing power needs for customers. The role involves trading, scheduling, and mitigating risks on the ERCOT power grid, with a DuPont day/night shift schedule.

You will work on real-time trading, risk management, and market analysis to optimize energy portfolios while ensuring regulatory compliance with FERC and ERCOT ISO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years in energy power sector.
• Experience with power markets (PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, CAISO, WECC).
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to assess pricing, risk and transaction structuring.
• Familiarity with emergency response procedures.

• Capture market opportunities based on real-time positions.
• Conduct real-time trading and scheduling for purchases and sales of energy and ancillary services.
• Build relationships with market participants.
• Communicate real-time market information to energy managers and term traders.
• Maintain regulatory requirements with FERC and communicate directly with the ERCOT ISO.
• Proficiently collect, query, organize, and analyze large data sets in Excel and present results clearly.
• Prioritize deliverables and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Manage/mitigate risk for the asset owners
• Capture market opportunities based on real-time positions and analysis of market conditions
• Conduct real-time trading and scheduling for purchases and sales of energy and ancillary services
• Build relationships with market participants
• Communication of real-time market information to energy managers as well as cash and term traders
• Maintain regulatory requirements with FERC and communicate directly with the ERCOT ISO
• Proficiently collects, queries, organizes, and manipulates large amounts of data in Excel and accurately presents analytical results
• Prioritize deliverables and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines

Requirements & Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, a focus in Finance or Engineering preferred
• A minimum of (2) years of experience in the energy power sector is required; Real Time trading/operations experience preferred
• Experience with a variety of power markets preferred, including PJM, MISO, NYISO, NEPOOL, IMO, ERCOT, CAISO and WECC.
• Familiarity with emergency response procedures, including alternative work sites
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required with experience or knowledge of three-part communication preferred.
• Basic analytical skills required for pricing, risk assessment, and transaction structuring
• Professional judgment and sensitivity necessary to earn client and co-worker confidence.
