Job summary

Leidos is seeking Software Development Interns to join the ERAM team supporting the FAA Air Traffic System. You will engage in real-time programming on high-availability UNIX/Linux platforms, multi-threaded software, and low-level OS customization.

Interns will work with ERAM teams, gain hands-on lab testing on target hardware, and collaborate with leadership and systems engineering to deliver productive automation tools while learning across languages such as Python, C/C++, and Ada.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree.
• Demonstrated software development skills.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills.
• Flexibility across multiple SW languages.
• Demonstrated ability to debug and solve problems.
• Strong desire to engage, learn and improve technical capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Modernizing the AT control system by improving ERAM availability and performance.
• Supporting ERAM as it upgrades hardware, software, OS, firmware, security, and CAS.
• Detailed knowledge of Linux OS and OS concepts desirable.
• Developing and maintaining FAA air traffic control software on UNIX/Linux.
• Performing hands-on lab testing on target HW during software development.
• Consult with SW Leadership and Systems Engineering on solutioning.
• Development of productivity aids and automation tools.
• Heavy focus on learning and asking quality questions that add value.
• Interns typically work with one of the ERAM SW teams.
