Job summary

Leidos seeks a Software Engineer to be based in Gaithersburg, MD; Eagan, MN; or Egg Harbor, NJ, supporting UK NASR PDT. You will join a dynamic team building real-time, high-availability, safety-critical systems that underpin national airspace operations.

The role offers a balanced 50% hybrid schedule with 2-3 days in the office weekly and opportunities to lead and mentor engineers while shaping software development practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; 4-8 years of relevant experience, or Master's with 2-6 years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Strong object-oriented programming experience in C and/or C++.
• Experience developing real-time, multi-threaded, high-availability systems.
• Experience with Linux (Red Hat), virtual machines, and hypervisors.
• Experience with low-level communications protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SCTP).
• Familiarity with system maintenance and lifecycle concepts.
• Experience with source control and configuration management tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software for real-time, high-availability systems.
• Lead software development activities independently and with a team.
• Analyze complex system requirements and translate into efficient designs.
• Apply software engineering principles to ensure reliability and maintainability.
• Mentor junior developers and influence technical direction.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning.
• Develop, tune, document, and deploy automation scripts across environments.
• Promote code reuse and cross-program collaboration.
• Support system integration including hardware and low-level interfaces.
