Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin seeks an R&D Software Development Associate to advance real-time sonar software. You will design, implement, test, and verify software for naval applications at the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL) using Unix/Linux environments, including Lake Travis testing facilities.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics.
  • Demonstrated ability using object-oriented programming languages.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving background.
  • Thorough understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, data structures, and algorithm performance analysis.
  • Experience with C++ and Python.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and basic administration.
  • Evidence of skills in organizing, planning, coordinating tasks, time management, attention to detail, good judgment, independence, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test and verify real-time software for sonar applications.
  • Build test, and install software for tactical sonar systems in a real acoustic environment at the Lake Travis Test Station and offsite contractor locations.
  • Integration of software components with tactical sonar systems.
  • Document and present work performed.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
