Job description

What’s the role?

SENA’s Real Time (RT) Desk manages and optimizes short-tenor (Day-Ahead and Real-Time) power and gas positions across markets in the United States and Canada. The Real Time Scheduling Analyst supports our real-time power traders by handling hourly scheduling, data analytics, reconciliations, trade entries, post-analysis, data requests, and customer reporting. This role also provides general support for traders and front office staff in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. The main goal is to minimize operational risk and maximize stakeholder value in North American electric power markets.

What you’ll be doing

  1. Work a continuous 12-hour shift alongside a real-time power trader for up to 7 days, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  2. Procure hourly transmission reservations and create electronic tags under trader guidance.
  3. Upload power market bids, offers, and schedules to ISOs as directed.
  4. Coordinate with counterparties to set up paths and schedules, ensuring proper implementation.
  5. Analyze complex data to assist traders and customers in decision-making.
  6. Provide real-time operational support, resolving issues quickly to minimize impact.
  7. Maintain good relationships with stakeholders including trading teams, IT, vendors, and customers.
  8. Collaborate with IT and trading teams to resolve operational issues effectively.
  9. Develop and improve data handling, reporting, and IT processes on Shell’s Azure platform.
  10. Follow all processes and procedures, implementing policy changes as needed.
  11. Create tools to analyze archived market data meaningfully.
  12. Utilize ETRM systems for reporting energy and ancillary services.
  13. Standardize and distribute daily reports.
  14. Interface with trading software to develop performance metrics.
  15. Participate in performance management and root-cause analysis.
  16. Manage large datasets, extract insights, and develop actionable strategies, including coding in VBA, SQL, R, Python, etc.
  17. Coordinate with various departments for P/L and exposure reporting.
  18. Verify and reconcile contract and physical power delivery information.
  19. Align with SENA’s overall goals and strategies.

What you bring

  • Legal authorization to work in the US full-time.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields; Master’s preferred.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience.
  • Availability for 12-hour shifts, up to 7 days in a row, including nights, weekends, holidays.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Quick decision-making skills.

What we offer
