Job summary

Arizona G&T Cooperatives in Benson, AZ seeks a Real-Time Trader II to manage short-term power positions across ISO/RTO markets and WECC bilateral trades, optimizing generation and load in real time and arranging transmission service.

You will tag and schedule delivery, monitor risk, and work with schedulers, transmission teams, and balancing authorities to maximize portfolio value while maintaining compliance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in finance, economics, engineering or math.
• 2–3 years in real-time or short-term trading, scheduling or transmission ops.
• Understanding of wholesale electricity markets, LMPs, congestion and ancillary services.
• Familiarity with AEPCO trading and WECC processes is a plus.
• Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in 24/7 on-call coverage and rotating shifts as required.
• Monitor real-time positions across CAISO, CAISO WEIM, SPP markets and bilateral markets.
• Negotiate and execute physical power trades with counterparties under EEI/WSPP terms.
• Assess load forecasts, generation, constraints, congestion, and weather impacts for trading decisions.
• Identify arbitrage opportunities across ISO/RTO nodes and bilateral hubs.
• Manage NERC e-Tags, transmit service via OASIS, and coordinate with balancing authorities.
• Ensure accurate data entry and reconcile trade/e-Tag records with middle office.
• Maintain trading logs and support post-trade P&L analysis.
• Assist in training junior traders and promote a collaborative team environment.
