Job summary

Type One Energy Group is seeking a Computational Physicist to build and advance a multi-fidelity MHD-Edge-Divertor modeling framework supporting optimization, stability analysis, equilibrium reconstruction, synthetic diagnostics, and real-time plasma control.

The role contributes to Infinity One and Infinity Two programs, enabling accelerated design, improved control strategies, and integrated diagnostics for next-generation stellarators.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with equilibrium reconstruction tools for magnetic fusion is desired.
  • Working in a shared development workspace: Git, GitHub, GitLab or similar.
  • Numerical modeling with Python, C/C++, Fortran.
  • Familiarity with Unix, HPC and GPU computing: Bash, Slurm, MPI, OpenMP, JAX, CUDA.
  • Familiarity with real-time control systems for fusion devices.
  • Handling large data sets; work with engineers to reduce data set sizes.
  • Generating reports and documents with MS Office and online tools such as Confluence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and advance a multi-fidelity MHD-Edge-Divertor modeling framework for optimization and control.
  • Contribute to high-performance simulation tools and predictive modeling for stellarators.
  • Support real-time plasma optimization and AI-enhanced physics validation.
  • Collaborate across physics and engineering to shape Infinity One/Two program performance.
