Job summary

Oceanus Marine Technologies is seeking a Front-End Software Engineer to build operator-facing web applications that visualize live vessel telemetry, sensors, and alerts across edge and cloud systems.

You will turn complex maritime data into intuitive, high‑performance dashboards for vessel operators, focusing on low-latency state management and dependable production systems in high-stakes environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical discipline; OR 2+ years of professional software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
• 2+ years of front‑end or UI/UX‑focused software development.
• Experience building and deploying production‑grade, data‑intensive web applications.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build production front-end applications for real‑time monitoring and control of maritime assets.
• Design scalable client-side data architectures for live telemetry, historical time‑series data, alarms, geospatial information, and equipment state.
• Implement low‑latency data pipelines on the frontend to handle streaming vessel telemetry via WebSockets or similar protocols.
• Bridge design and implementation by creating reusable UI components and design patterns that ensure consistency across the platform.
• Collaborate with operators to understand field requirements, iterating on UI layouts to reduce cognitive load and improve operational efficiency.
• Support deployments and testing in live operational environments, refining interfaces based on direct operator feedback.
